Be striking and stop the scroll

Last week was Advertising week at Luna Park. Aside from enjoying Prosecco overlooking Sydney harbour, I also happened to learn a thing or two.

Did you know that in Australia, smartphones and tablets make up 63% of online activity? Or that 1 in 4 internet users are already mobile only?

According to Facebook, we are scrolling through feeds 41% faster on mobile than on desktop.

The faster our audiences’ scroll, the more critical it becomes to make posts as striking and worth stopping for as possible.

But how?

1. Post original content

To make posts as engaging as possible, it is essential that you are posting original content that doesn’t feel like overt marketing. Audiences these days and more clued in than ever to when they are being marketed to, so try and find a clever, witty way you can get your message across that makes audiences want to engage with your brand.

2. Videography

Studies show that people gaze 5x longer at video than static content on Facebook and Instagram. To juice, as much engagement as possible out of your content, be sure to include videography as part of your marketing strategy.

As users move more towards being mobile-only and as scrolling speeds rocket, make sure you’re online, make sure that you turn up to the party and make sure that you look damn good.
